The Company: Our Client is a family run business successfully established as market leaders in the design, importation & distribution of quality rugs since 1984. In the last three years, the company has emerged as the fastest growing rug importer in the UK, supplying retail chains, large independent stores & all types of retail outlets in the UK, Ireland & Europe. In order to continue their growth, they now require an experienced Merchandising Manager.
The Job: Your role will be to manage all aspects of the buying, merchandise and import function, providing leadership, direction and management of all aspects of the full supply chain including product development, import, stock control and QC. You will work with & manage a large buying team, create & track forecasts for new lines, monitor stock levels and make decisions on lead times to protect availability for key customers. Working closely with warehouse, finance and sales you will ensure stock purchase is in line with sales projection, create & track forecasts for new lines and ensure suppliers are consistently meeting our expectations.
Skills: You will have at least 2 years experience in a similar role, be commercially astute and have an excellent understanding of the buying process as well as a good knowledge of IT systems, particularly Excel. You will be a confident and natural leader, have excellent communication skills both with internal and international customers and have a keen eye for detail. Some overseas travel will be required and you must have a willingness to succeed to progress within the company.
